Duct Replacement

Statewide HVAC replaces residential ductwork across Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, and Yolo counties — typically for homes with aging flex duct, rodent damage, or systems where the old ductwork has become the bottleneck limiting a new or recently replaced HVAC system. We design the duct layout to the actual home and seal to current code.

What duct replacement covers

  • Full attic, crawlspace, or basement duct replacement
  • R-6 and R-8 insulated flex duct options
  • Proper duct sizing and static-pressure design — not just same-as-old
  • Plenum, boot, and register replacement where needed
  • Mastic sealing at every connection to current Title 24 standards
  • Removal and disposal of the old duct system

Duct Replacement questions, answered

Why does ductwork need replacing — can't it just be sealed?

Sealing is the right answer when the ducts are structurally sound but leaking at joints. Replacement is the right answer when flex duct has disintegrated, rodents have torn through, insulation has collapsed, or the original design is undersized for the current HVAC system. We tell you which category yours is in after an inspection, not before.

What's the difference between R-6 and R-8 ductwork?

The 'R' value is thermal resistance — higher means more insulation. R-8 duct holds conditioned air at the design temperature better than R-6, which matters most in hot Sacramento Valley attics in summer. For new installs and most replacements in our region, R-8 is the default we recommend.

Will new ductwork actually improve comfort?

If your old duct system is leaking 20–30% of the air you're paying to condition, or is undersized for your current HVAC, yes — new properly sized and sealed ducts recover that loss. If the problem is actually the HVAC equipment itself, duct replacement alone won't fix it, and we'll tell you so.

How long does a duct replacement take?

Most residential duct replacements take one to two full days depending on attic access, number of registers, and whether we're reusing the existing supply/return plenum. We walk you through the schedule before work starts.
