Furnace Installation

Statewide HVAC installs new gas furnaces for homes across Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, and Yolo counties — most often as part of a full HVAC build or when an existing furnace has reached end of life. We size the system to the actual home with a Manual J load calculation, install to California Title 24, and pull every required permit.

What a furnace install covers

  • Manual J load calculation and system sizing for the actual home
  • 80% AFUE and 90%+ AFUE high-efficiency gas furnace options
  • Gas line, condensate drain, electrical, and venting work to code
  • Flue, PVC venting, and combustion-air verification
  • Thermostat, zoning, and air-handler controls setup
  • Local building-department permits and inspection coordination

Furnace Installation questions, answered

What size furnace does my home need?

The right answer comes from a load calculation, not a square-footage rule of thumb. We measure the home's actual heat loss based on insulation, windows, orientation, and duct losses — then size the furnace to match. Oversized furnaces short-cycle and feel drafty; undersized ones never catch up.

80% AFUE or 90%+ high-efficiency furnace?

A 90%+ AFUE condensing furnace burns less gas for the same heat and needs a condensate drain plus different venting than an 80% model. The gas-cost savings add up over the furnace's life; the upfront cost is higher. We lay out the real trade-off, including venting constraints in your specific house.

Can you replace just the furnace while keeping my AC?

Usually yes, as long as the coil and refrigerant lines are in good shape and the new furnace's blower is matched to the existing coil and ductwork. We check compatibility before quoting the install — not after.

What permits are required for a furnace install in California?

California Title 24 requires a mechanical permit for a furnace changeout or new install. Permits are pulled from the local building department (city or county), and the installed system is subject to inspection. We handle the paperwork and the inspection appointment.
